OPEN! Thursday to Sunday

After some big ups and downs through the holidays and into January, we are back on track! We received 15cm of snow this week and more forecasted to fall over the weekend. Our base is good and conditions are great!

We are moving into our regular season operating hours: thur-sun 930-330 (unless otherwise posted for cold weather closures etc.

It is expected to be brisk and blustery tomorrow, with warming happening around 10am. So please plan to bundle up if you’re coming up!

Cold snap update: January 12th 2023

Too warm. Too dry. Too Cold. It hasn’t been the easiest winter so far!

We have been obsessively checking the forecast, but unfortunately the temps are holding too cold Sunday to safely open the hill.

We will remain closed until next week.

We are so ready to get things rolling and really appreciate the patience. But! We do see a positive trend in the weather pattern that will make for some great skiing soon!

January 9th 2023

It has been a little quiet over here as we impatiently wait for snow. As forecasted we received a decent snow fall 15+cm and falling throughout the night. We were lucky it fell straight down and we haven’t encountered any wind erosion which was our concern!

There is a cold front following this snow inland and we do anticipate seeing temps of -35C with wind so unfortunately we do not expect to be able to open until Sunday January 14th 2024. Forecast is calling for -18C in the morning so more than manageable with the right gear!

While we are beyond excited to get this show back in the road, we have learned this winter will do whatever this winter wants to do. So please make sure to check back before you travel up here on the conditions page or on one of our social media channels.

Conditions will be excellent in some areas but lower down expect some marginal spots. Look at the list of groomed and open runs and follow all precautions and run closure notices.

Let it keep snowing!

Operation update Dec 29th 2023: Closed until more snow falls

We had really hoped that we would be able to operate this weekend but the temperatures today are just too warm and caused too much damage.

We’re seeing melting right down into the ground which means our snow cat cannot go on the snow. Leaving us with either glare ice if it freezes ( as seen above) or something that is too soft to ski on safely.

At this time, we will not be open until we get some more snow. Please keep snow dancing!

We will be open New Years eve for food and beverage so please consider coming up, lamenting the snow pack and supporting you local hill!

Library Pass News

We are very excited to announce the roll out of our new collaboration project of lift pass rental at the Fort St. James Public library! There will be four passes per day (Thursday to Sunday) to check out using your library card at no cost. Just visit the public library during their open hours and bring the pass to the ticket window. We only ask that you please be respectful of other folks in your community and allow others an opportunity to access this program.

We would like to thank the Fort St. James public library and the District of FSJ for funding this program. We have two addition donors who will be announced as soon as contribution is confirmed.
