Did you know…

In May of 1984, the Ft. St. James Ski Club was created to oversee the operation of the Murray Ridge Ski Area.  The diversity of the fifteen applicants was, and still is, a testimony to the vision of a community operated ski area - the desire to make skiing (and now snowboarding as well) accessible to as many people as possible, and to ensure the success and longevity of a hill that had been birthed out of passion and love of the sport.  Included among these applicants were businessmen, a sales manager, a housewife, a school principal, a labourer, a trucker, an electrician, a retail clerk, and a planer supervisor.  This board of individuals undertook to hire a manager each season to run the ski hill, and volunteered their time to ensure Fort St. James was able to preserve this amazing resource for all community members to use and enjoy.

Fast forward to today, and not much has changed. We are still a community owned ski area, with a volunteer board that hires a manager to oversee the operation of the hill. We are still just as passionate about our love for skiing and snowboarding, and hope your experience on our hill helps you grow to love it just as much as we do! Joined the club as the GM 2008 - 2012, board member 2008 - 2012, President 2012 - Present

I ‘ve been in the ski industry since 1995, starting at Murray Ridge and then moving south to the Kootenays, finally moving home in 2008.

As President, my goal is to continue supporting this beauty of a mountain. I plan to stick around to keep this awesome opportunity available for the youth that i had growing up. My hopes are to one day ski Haslinger with my grandchildren!!
